The Fun Factory
The Fun Factory is 70s-era amusement center filled with classic arcade games hidden under a parking garage next to the Redondo Beach Pier. In a recent Los Angeles Magazine article, writer Chris Nichols says that "the walls and ceiling are encrusted with generations of tacky signage, flashing lights, and dusty carnival prizes." He continues, "it’s a run-down man cave as big as a Wal-Mart and the clock is ticking toward its demise." Recently, the Redondo Beach City council has voted against fun and struck a $9 million deal with the owner to close within 3 years. Their plan, a $300 million shopping mall project.
